Ethical Conduct of Research

Manuscripts including presentation of original data relating to human or animal experimental investigations should disclose appropriate institutional review board approval and describe this clearly within the manuscript text. In case institutions and investigators who do not have formal ethics review committees, the ethical principles outlined in the Declaration of Helsinki of 1975, as revised in 2000,  should be followed. If doubt exists whether the research was conducted in accordance with the Helsinki Declaration, the authors must explain the rationale for their approach, and demonstrate that the institutional review body explicitly approved the doubtful aspects of the study. When reporting experiments on animals, authors should be asked to indicate whether the institutional and national guide for the care and use of laboratory animals was followed.

Participant’s privacy
Participants of human experimental investigations have a right to privacy that should not be infringed without given informed consent. Participant’s identifying information should not be included in the manuscript unless the inclusion is essential for scientific purposes and the participant (or parent or legal guardian) has given written informed consent. When informed consent has been obtained from participants it should be indicated in the manuscript. In attempting to maintain patient anonymity, identifying details should be omitted in the manuscript text where they are not essential. However, participant data should never be amended or falsified. Informed consent should be obtained whenever there is any doubt that anonymity can be assured.

Author Disclosure Form
After accepting of a manuscript for publication in the Journal of Applied Bioanalysis the corresponding author will receive by email the Author Disclosure Form. This form contains questions to be answered about Ethical Conduct of Research. The filled-out form has to be emailed to the editorial office and is a must prior to the start of the galley proof production. Not returning this form in appropriate time (within few days after receipt) can impact the production of the galley proof and delay the publication of accepted manuscript. More information here.
