All submitted manuscripts to the editorial office of the Journal of Applied Bioanalysis are when they passed the first editorial screening checked on their originality by Similarity Check (formerly CrossCheck). Similarity Check is a multi-publisher initiative to screen published and submitted content for originality and uses the iThenticate software to detect instances of overlapping and similar text in submitted manuscripts.

Types of plagiarism
Original manuscript may be plagiarised by authors. Although the most focus of the plagiarism check is in the manuscript text it is important to know as an author that ideas, images, creative works (eg musical compositions or choreographies), and data can also be plagiarised.

How does iThenticate work:
iThenticate compares submitted documents to extensive data repositories to create a comprehensive Similarity Report, which highlights and provides links to any significant text matches, helping to ensure that you are submitting an original and well-attributed document. The iThenticate product for Researchers is a separate service to CrossCheck.
